Project and Status of Completion: Inventory Management & Logistics Support Consultancy for Drugs and Supplies (Ongoing since March 2011 till June 2013)

Objectives:
  1. Supply chain management of drugs, insecticides and Larvicides, diagnostic kits, LLINs & other commodities and ensure uninterrupted availability in States/Districts & Sub District Levels.
  2. Monitor expiry & database of short expiry drugs & commodities for timely steps for their utilization/ diversion to other places within their shelf life.
  3. Strengthening of existing inventory management systems at the State, District and Block PHC levels, through more stringent monitoring and supervisory practices
  4. Working out Technical requirement of each drug & other commodities and quantification & forecasting for procurement.
  5. Standardization of operational processes, through the developments of SOPs for the management of drugs
  6. Training and capacity-building of staff and officials engaged in drug management
  7. Institution of a strong monthly/quarterly reporting mechanism at all levels (viz. State, District, CHCs and PHCs), with a view to strengthening Health System Management.

  1. Strengthening of existing inventory management systems at the State, District and PHC levels, through more stringent monitoring and supervisory practices
  2. Technical requirement of each drug and quantification & forecasting for procurement.
  3. Standardization of operational processes, through the developments of SOPs for the management of drugs
  4. Training and capacity-building of staff and officials engaged in drug management
  5. Institution of a strong monthly/quarterly reporting mechanism at all levels (viz. State, District, CHCs and PHCs), with a view to strengthening Health System Management.
Name of Organization:Revised National Tuberculosis Programme (RNTCP), MoHFW (Contracted by WHO for RNTCP)
Project and Status of Completion: Drug Logistics & Inventory Management (Ongoing since the year Oct 2000 till date) Contract being renewed on year to year basis by WHO

Objectives:
  1. Support for inventory and expiry management of RNTCP drugs including pediatric PWBs and X-Ray rolls (viz. Expirables), at multiple stock points across the country
  2. Coordination with CTD, WHO and GDF to support the process of procurement
  3. Assistance with the design and implementation of DLS processes now being instituted for MDR drugs
  4. On-going support/ data inputs to CTD officials for projecting procurement requirements and follow-up to ensure timely supply from manufacturers
  5. On-going support/ data inputs to CTD officials with respect to the quality assurance function
  6. Support to on-going training initiatives on inventory management systems and procedures to WHO Medical Consultants and staff at selected State Drug Stores (SDS)/ implementing districts
  7. Need-based, assurance review of Inventory Management of Expirables (including MDR drugs) at selected primary and/or intermediate stock points.

Project and Status of Completion: Training & Capacity Building (Ongoing since the year 2005 till date) Contract being renewed on year to year basis and included in supply chain contract

Objectives:
  1. Training to a maximum of 35 RNTCP personnel in each session including DTO, pharmacists, STO, SDS staff and WHO Medical Consultants for the state.
  2. Training would be preceded by review of systems and procedures presently followed by the state in the area of drugs inventory management
  3. Two-day training programme incorporating modular training and interactive exercises
  4. Emphasis on the use of new operational and reporting formats that are to be used by districts and their down-line units
  5. Field visits to district, MC,PHI locations to study the impact of trainings conducted in the Past

Project and Status of Completion: Drug Logistics Support Consultancy (December 2007 to June 2008 and extended upto August 2008)

Objectives:
  1. Strengthening of existing inventory management systems at the ART Centers across the Country through more stringent monitoring and supervisory practices
  2. Uninterrupted supply of drugs through early warnings on excess/ stock-out situations
  3. Institution of a strong monthly/quarterly reporting mechanism at all levels, with a view to strengthening Health System Management under the project.
